Have you read this?

While my mom and grandma were visiting, they told me how good 'The Help'  by Kathryn Stockett was and recommended I read it. (Yes, that's snow in the background! A storm came through last night.) So I checked it out from the library. I was hooked immediately. As I read a little each night after Bracken fell asleep, I kept looking over at Jeff saying "this is such a good book!" (He was reading another book and telling me the same.) Last night I finished it, even staying up a little past my bedtime (which is a very rare occasion for me since I value my sleep so much.)
It's one of those stories that will always stay with me, with characters that I hold dear. I appreciated this book immensely and found it so touching. It was powerful. It moved me.
When I read a really good book, I feel changed after reading it.

I haven't yet, but would really love too! Thinking about getting a library membership ... I feel like I should be reading more these days with the time spent nursing (I've been falling asleep a lot lately while nursing, which freaks me out!).

On another note, I've been wanting to pick your brain about elimination communication. I thought I remember reading an old blog post of yours, was there a book you recommended?

I've read and loved it as well. I haven't seen the movie yet though.

Yes, I did read it...it was so well done! Made me cringe, disgusted at how horrible people can be to other people, and made me look at where we've come and how far we have left to go. How many books can make you laugh, cry AND think long and hard?

I haven't, but have heard great things! I have also been told the movie is delightful! Reading is so nourishing - and I agree, one of the few things worth losing sleep over ;)

I haven't read the book yet, but my brother bought the dvd for me. It was an awesome movie that allowed one to see how far we have come in our views of one another. I laughed, cried, and empathized with some of the characters. Glad you had time to read and enjoy this book. Hugs & Blessings

I think we're getting your snow storm :) A dark front has just arrived from over the mountains (West) and little flurries have just begun. Yay!

Love to you Taryn!!!

I always have a book on the backseat of my car- either a loaner or one to lend to a friend. The Help was a treasure that made its way into my car and back to my home for a bit.

I loved it. I think of how Aibileen's writing career began with recording her heartfelt prayers and I can see why you loved the book, too- it calls to mind your Sunday lists of all that you are grateful for.

The injustice and hurts those women suffered- and the chocolate cake revenge...not sure I would have been as brave as Minny...a great read!

I really enjoyed that book, too. I've been telling every one to read it. I love how a good book makes me feel. :)
